Route breakdown

  • Distance: 14.39 miles
  • Duration: about 34 minutes
  • Turns: 20 total, 10 right and 10 left
  • Longest stretch: CA-52 West, 2.31 miles

What to expect on the roads this route covers

This is the most freeway-heavy route in the area: it joins CA-67 North, then CA-52 West out toward Santee, loops through residential streets, and comes back on CA-52 East before finishing on surface streets, two separate highways used in both directions. CA-52 West is the longest stretch at 2.31 miles, both CA-67 and CA-52 are classed motorway. Back on surface streets, North Cuyamaca Street and Cuyamaca Street are the busiest, both classed secondary, along with Fanita Drive, Prospect Avenue, and Vernon Way.

Tips for this specific route

  • Get comfortable with two separate freeways. This route uses CA-67 North and CA-52 in both directions, more freeway mileage and more distinct highways than any other route in this area.
  • Settle into a steady pace on CA-52 West. It's the longest single stretch on the route at 2.31 miles.
  • Treat Cuyamaca Street as a busy secondary road. It's classed secondary along with North Cuyamaca Street, Fanita Drive, Prospect Avenue, and Vernon Way, all busier than the quiet residential streets in between.
  • Don't expect a lopsided turn pattern. This route splits perfectly evenly, 10 left turns and 10 right, so build your rhythm around frequent direction changes rather than a dominant side.
  • Drive smoothly and confidently. Hesitation at intersections is marked the same way poor decision making is.
